"In 1923, a mine drifted in and exploded right next to the house, the damage to the Lantern Lighthouse was severe but fortunately no one was hurt and today all traces of the incident are long gone."
Welcome to mythical Marstrand with its exciting history as a free port, today most famous for being the sailing mecca of the west coast and Sweden with appreciated races and races. A large part of the world's sailing elite gathers here during the summer sailing week, cheered on by Sweden's business leaders. Marstrand is without a doubt one of Residence Fastighetsmäkleri's most appreciated areas that we always enjoy working in.
Here is Lyktan, or the Marstrand lighthouse, also called Lyktudden, a rare beautiful summer house with the absolute best location. For sailors and in sailing circles one of the west coast's most famous landmarks. Lyktan has only had a handful of owners and the current owner has had Residence Fastighetsmäkleri make an article about this outstandingly beautiful house.
Lyktan with its lighthouse is located on Koön just north of Malepert, majestically on its own cape facing southwest and despite the fact that the lighthouse is located on Koön, it is referred to on nautical charts as Marstrand. The site is beautifully barren with red soft stone slabs and with its own well-protected natural bathing bay. There is also a sheltered natural harbor with a robust associated docking facility. In addition to the house, the plot also houses a modern and fully equipped guest cottage with all amenities and a boathouse. The plot covers 3,100 sqm and is today free-bought and extends all the way down to the water. On the horizon, the equally old lighthouse Pater Noster is glimpsed and the wide sea view continues beyond any thoughts you previously had about sea views and just can not get better.

Judging from the name, we understand that the house has been a lighthouse keeper's residence. Previously, the lighthouse was inside the house and it was lit in a stove similar to a corner cabinet. The first flame was lit here in 1868, the current lighthouse was installed in 1973 and is electrically powered. The lighthouse light is well shielded from the house and adds a great charm factor. The house is probably the only one that has suffered from a mine blast. In 1923, a mine drifted in and exploded right next to the house, the damage to the lighthouse Lyktan was severe but fortunately no one was hurt and today all traces of the incident are long gone.
Inside the house, the sea is present in every way, wherever you look out the windows you see the sea, it smells of fresh and salty sea and not least, you can hear the swelling roar of the waves or in the early mornings the tight silence of the bleach. Today, the house offers two large living rooms, four bedrooms and a lovely kitchen with space for the large family. Over the years, the few owners of the house have managed to retain much of its original charm and original features, including the basement vault, now decorated as a wine cellar, the upstairs fireplace and the mezzanine's tiled stove, windows and not least the original niche with its lighthouse prism, the lantern, which gave the house its name.
Modernization of the kitchen and bathrooms has been done continuously, most recently the guest house was renovated and modernized. The fact that the house has managed to withstand the weather for so many years is a golden testimony to its quality and location. Even today, the last rays of the evening sun caress the facade and have done so for 140 years, the house has survived all its owners and will always be ready for new ones.
